Consistent with our name, the mission of the Vanguard Urologic Institute is to embrace new ideas and technologies in science and medicine, bringing the best of them to our patients.

Our state-of-the-art outpatient facility in the new Memorial Hermann Medical Plaza Building in the Texas Medical Center helps us optimize patient care.
The new Vanguard facility features 
- a completely paperless office experience
- kiosk check-in and check-out to streamline and quicken office visits
- minimally invasive and robotic technologies to treat urologic problems
- integration of the Internet, multimedia content, medical outcome prediction software (nomograms ), and other Web-based tools into the routine care of our patients.
Our Centers of Excellence
Our Centers of Excellence were established to carry out our mission to ensure that our patients are provided the very best care in each particular sub-specialty of Urology.
Our Centers of Excellence include the Texas Prostate Center, the Center for Kidney Health, the Texas Continence Center (recently renamed the Rodney A. Appell Center for Continence and Pelvic Health), the Center for Screening, Prevention, Detection, Surveillance, and Minimally Invasive and Focal Therapy for Prostate Cancer, and the Center for Male Sexual Health and Wellness.

Support for Personal Health Records are now available

Our department of Technology & Health Informatics can now produce Continuity of Care Documents (CCD) that you can import into your Google Health or Microsoft HealthVault Personal Health Record (PHR).
Please be advised that, effective January 1, 2012, Google will be retiring it's Google Health product. For additional information about Google's decision to remove this feature and how to transfer any data that you may have entered in to Google Health transferred to another PHR system, please click here.
